Grid Forum Korea(GFK) was established on October 25.2001 under National Grid Basic Plan for the construction of next generation internet base by MIC(Ministry of Information and Communication).
Based on next generation internet technology, construction of Nation Grid infrastructure and development of core application technology sharing supercomputer, large scale information, storage equipment and up-to-date science technology equipment, are the advent of new infrastructure in the field of information & communication and high-performance computing in 21th century.
Accordingly, MIC has actively promoted the projects, construction of Nation Grid infrastructure and development of core application, in order to deal with Grid construction and development of related information in advanced country, and to rear the Grid industry where IT is grafted upon NT, ET, BT,ST,CT.
To promote this Grid project effectively, MIC organized Grid Forum Korea(GFK). It is managed by GFK Secretariat located in supercomputing center at KISTI(Korea Institute of Science and Information). Having positive support of government, GFK makes cooperative work with industry-academy-institute where it is going to be a representative forum in IT sphere, and take part actively in international Grid development and standardization . GFK will do active work in order to deal competitively with others in international IT field.

The purpose of GFK is that facilitating Grid R&D, contributing international Grid standardization, spreading Grid standardization to domestic, and building cooperative environment in order to develope and rear Grid industry in domestic. Definite objects to achieve its purpose are as below.
